It's been snowing all day here in St. Paul. This after a March that was colder than February (only the 7th time since 1820 that has happened)!

We had 6" down in Champaign last Monday night/Tuesday morning in about 3 hours After a 1/4" of ice Sunday night. We are far too far south for that kinda stuff this time of year. We should be planting corn by now.

Same in northwest Montana. They told us it was going to be in the 60's.

Hi guys,
I'm trying hard to work up some sympathy. But since I live in North Pole, Alaska where we get snow in September and it doesn't melt until late April or early may, I'm having a little difficulty here. When I got up this morning it was -16.

It snowed here too this morning, probably a good inch or so. Most of it is gone now though.

Hey, I'm further north than any of ya and on Sunday morning, the snow was about 75% gone. We now have more snow than we've had all year.

M.A., that is not comforting. Your directly NW of here, and I'll get the lake effect off of Lake Michigan. Oh well, maybe I'll pull out the old sled (no, I'm not thinking about the Crown Vic) to make good out of this!

The bad thing about living in the mountains of Montana is nobody takes sympathy on you, it's always taken for granted there will be snow. I lived in Wyoming where it'd snow in July, now that sucked!

60 above in central Montana yesterday, and all the snow was gone...3 foot drifts of snow today. I had to crawl out of a window this morning, because the hard snow drifted right against my door. 30 MPH winds and 10 above = bitter cold wind chill.

I love this time of year, through October even; sure you do also, Carl. :D When we want snow, we get a ski package for a few days and go to Vail. They can keep the stuff.

Yea, but it's you guys from the south that crack me up when you wander up here and try to drive. Huge panic doing 30mph when I pass ya on the highway doing 65mph leaving a huge rooster tail of snow dust. Not to mention if you gotta drive in the deep stuff :D

Hal, come on. How many guys from the south do you see in the winter up there, driving?? We visit in the summer, to escape the 110 degree heat. Onliest place I ever wore a sweater in August. :D

You would be suprised Sarge, more than you would think. Not so many Texas, but there are a few. Most common are Florida, Georgia, and California. Beats me why they come here, totally flat which makes things windy and miserable during storms. Not too much to see here, or at least in my opinion.
You're last statement you would think it's cold here in August, maybe not as warm as in Texas, but 30-35'C isn't exactly cold either.

Hal,
Born and raised in Nebraska so I know about the cold, snow, blizzards, etc.
Tahoe and all the resorts are 180 miles away and Reno 25 miles farther. Makes for a nice weekend trip. All the snow I want to see at my age.:)

Sarge, I lived in Texas for four years, having been raised in northwest Montana the best thing was bad weather in Texas. It was the only time I could get on the interstate and get to work without any hassle. Funny, I'd get to work sometimes up to four hours before any other coworkers, and even then most wouldn't show up. When I moved to Texas I showed up on Feb 14, and was wearing a bright Hawaiian shirt and it felt toasty, eveyone else was in coats zipped up to their chins, it was 56 degrees. And you know that song "All My Ex's Live in Texas" Well it's true for me.

It doesn't seem as if all you northerners know how to drive in snow.

Sure we do. The first snowfall of the season is always bad, as everybody forgets how to drive on ice during the summer. I think the same thing happened here again: we haven't had much snow at all this year, aside from a few big storms. There wasn't anything on the roads, and people just got used to driving normally. It is April, after all.
It is still snowing here, but after yesterday everybody remembered what to do in the snow and this morning's rush hour was fine, just a few spinouts, no big deal.
Of course, anywhere else in the country, entire cities shut down after getting 2 inches of snow. Now that's funny. At least we have seasons up here, and things are green. I've been to Texas, and I don't think I would want to live there. I guess I am spoiled with our 15,000 lakes, forests, rivers, and green surroundings.

Yea, but I'm still a little further north and drive in snow for a good 6-8 months of the year (usually 8) ;)

Hey SARGE! I was in San Antonio last month and saw the full moon come up over the Alamo. ONE problem, it was Friday night and the temp was 28 and wind was blowing at least 20 knots! That means COLD! I have been in TX in the hot and the cold and I definitely prefer the HOT!!! As in Odessa/Midland in August!

I would rather put up with the heat here in Arizona for 3 months to live with 9 months of beautiful weather.
For the last week it has not dropped below 80 for a high and it was 96 yesterday. Next week they predict temps in the mid to high 80's.
If I want to see snow in the winter I can drive 90 minutes North, stick my finger in 6' of the white stuff. I say yep, that's snow, and drive back to 70 degree weather.
