Programming in Windows

If you're thinking begginer level, then the learning Visual C++ from the Microsoft Press is pretty good.

Well, if you don't already own visual C++, I'd suggest getting Borland 5.0 for free. I like OWL very much, I've heard some don't like MFC as well.

I know lots about OWL, but nothing on MFC, so I can't really help much...

I have to agree with Paul. I like the OWL a lot better than MFC.

In fact, back when the 4.5 versions were going head to head, I read an article in MSJ (Microsoft Journal) that Microsoft liked OWL better than MFC.

where can one get borland 5 for free? A good book for C++ is deitel and deitel or kernaghan and ritche, I think their both just called c++

I believe B5 can be downloaded free of charge from borland, or look to their store, I believe they ship a CD with it for next to nothing.

I myself got it fre with a $20 book.
