alright we have 7 or 8 computers all with nics and set up for a network and plenty of cable. We have a 100mbps 5 port switch and a 10mpbs 4 port hub. My question is how would we go about connecting all of them? Can I run a network cable from uplink to uplink port and then just connect all the pcs? If so does that cable need to be a crossover? Im pretty new at this and never connected any more than 4 in a network. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

You do not need a crossover cable if at least one of the devices has an uplink port. In your case its sounds like both do.
You should be able to plug 1 end of a standard patch cable into ONE of the uplink ports and the other end into 1 of the ethernet ports on the hub, dont plug it into the other uplink port, it wont work. The uplink ports job is to perform the crossover function that a crossover cable would do. Make sure your hub and switch can match speeds as well. If the hub is 10mb only then the switch needs to be able to support 10/100 devices.

Hmmmm, Never saw that happen before.
