Help Virus not found!!!

Hello:
As I was surfing the net I received a pop up from my Anti-virus saying that I had a virus that couldn't be removed.
I Immediatly scaned system and no virus's were found.
Then I went to the Symantec site and ran their virus scan but it didn't show any viruses.Now i'm pretty confused here. Is this normal to have a virus and for it not to be picked up
It showed that it was in the My Document's area

Using Norton sys wrks 2002 with the latest updates
Also I have a copy of PC-Cillin but not installed yet Would this be a good time to install it or is it the same as Norton Also have Pc Mechanic installed

I just ran the House Call Nothing found
Ran McAffee nothin found I'm beggining to think this was a Hoax of some kind

Some pop ups will trigger the AV program since they may contain scripts that are trying to reset your homepage. Just delete your internet history, temporary internet files, and cookies.
