Does anyone know how to add a clip to the beginning of the timeline?

If you've got clips already in the timeline, you need to grab all of them (with the grab tool) and move them down. Put your new clip in the time line and then re-grab all the other clips and move tem down.

What if I have clips in both 1 and 2 in the timeline?

You can still do as described. It's right in the users manual. I do it all the time and I usually have 6 or more video tracks going at any one time.

You don't have the manual do you? Because it's right in chapter 2 (Premiere 5 & 6) regarding editing tools. Sounds to me like you've got a pirated version.....maybe you need to buy the real thing before I help you any longer.

Not a pirated version but a legal copy that was givev to me by someone that had it installed on an office computer. And no I don't have the manual and do not deal in any pirated software.

Bottom left of the timeline. You'll need to use the arrow to ecapsulate all the clips you want to grab and then use the hand (grab tool) to move them.
