My PC is equipped with a RADEON 32mb DDR graphics board. A new driver is available from ATI. The ATI web site instructions for the driver installation are explicit and say that I must first remove the current driver before installing the new one. I guess they don't want any of the old components running with the new ones.

If I do that, won't I lose my monitor? Can I just remove the driver via Add/Remove, not lose the monitor, and then install the new driver?

This may sound silly but I am an undergrad still.

Thanks

Personally, I have never removed my previous driver revision, just installed over top and never had a problem with it. When it comes to their multi media center, yea, you definitely need to uninstall first or you end up with conflicting programs.

yea, remove all of their multimedia stuff if you have any. then install the package you downloaded. i wouldn't remove the drivers for the video... but if you did, you wouldn't lose your video feed.

Hi HAL:

Is the mulitmedia center part of the new driver installation?

yea, it is. if you look where you downloaded the driver, it lists the software included with the download. it's got the display drivers, ATI DVD player, and ATI Multimedia Center.
