Greetings
I am wondering if there is a way to disable certain ports on my 98se box? I do not want to run a fwall. Is there some command that I can do or some other os based thing that will allow me to do this?
Thank you.

I don't think there are any direct commands to do what you want to do, why wouldn't you want to run a firewall?

If I can turn the ports off in the os I would need no fwall.
Get it??

Turning off ports or concealing them is the job of a firewall. ZoneAlarm (free) works great and provides you with the benefit of outbound protection as well as an e-mail filter that will rename suspicious files to keep a virus from activating. A firewall can also prevent your system from replying to a ping which essentially makes your IP address invisible on the internet.
