Yesterday I had asked how to create separate users in Outlook 2000 to handle up to 6 users. I would like to have each user to have his and hers private email boxes with passwords. I have tried with no success so far.
I went into control panel and created separate user profiles. And you had to log in as that user but noticed you had to share the address book and you also saw email left on Outlook from a different user.
What I am looking for is this, The computer portion could be common for all users all I want to do is have different (private) email accounts and also have private address books.
Can this be done? Was I on the right track in creating user profiles? What settings would I need to select to do what I need to do?
One more thing, I have gone back to my original system settings... 1 common user. When I boot my system it now stops and askes for what user and password. I have to hit cancel. Does anyone know how to stop this from happening?
Thanks

First of all - there's no need to to change the overall windows settings, you can manage separate identities just within outlook express (check your original post for this).
As far as the logon screen this should cover it:
" Step one. The first thing that you need to do is click on the start button
and open up the control panels. If Windows 98 tells you that you shouldn't
use the control panels unless you know what you are doing, click ok to
show the control panels.
Step two. Now that you have the control panels open, double click on the
control panel called Network.
Step three. In the network control panel change the primary network logon
to Windows Logon.
Step four. Click OK and restart your computer.
There you go! Windows shouldn't ask you to provide a logon anymore.
However, if it does than you should also perform the following steps:
Go into the the passwords control panel following the steps listed above
to obtain a control panel listing. Once there, go into the change password
tab and select change windows password. Type in your old password and
leave the new one and the new confirmation one blank. Go to the user
profiles tab and ensure that the "All users of this PC use the same
preferences and desktop settings" radio box is selected. That should
resolve your problem. These additional instructions were obtained from Step one. The first thing that you need to do is click on the start button

Thanks for your time and I took your advice on using Outlook Express 6 It did the trick just fine.
Only problem I have is the Address book for all idenities are the same. I will still need to figure out how to fix this problem.
The password box still comes up when I boot the system. I don't have a change password tab in Windows 98 SI controll panel passwords change password tab. So that is my problem. All my other settings seem ok.
The box that appears id the box looking for you to select a user and add that users password. I deleted all users for windows and just use Outlook Express 6 to use identity
Thanks
