second hard drive

when i got this computer it came with 2 wd hdd's; a 3 and a 4 gig. the 4 gig is the c drive and the second is secondary master [btw the cdrom is scondary slave]. there is 98se on the first drive and no os on the second, it is just for storage. i keep all my movies on the second drive but it seems to be very slow to open them. also, when i load pictures in ie off that drive they take a very long time. would this be because the drive is slow or is it because it is a seperate drive?

well you have a CDROM drive on the second hard drive. optical drive are ATA33 i belive. and i've heard that if you put one of those on the same IDE cable as a hard drive, it will slow it down. so that is probably your problem. the best thing to do is put both hard drives on the same channel.

so accessing files on a second hdd should be just as fast as off the main partition? these drives aren't very fast but i notice a difference
