HI, I am working on an older laptop computer. It is a Gateway
Pentium 150 mhz. I know it is an antique, but I am just trying to help a friend. This is the problem- I was just looking around in Display while in Control Panel. When I closed out Display, I received some kind of message that I did not pay much attention to. I believe it said something like a file is missing or corrupt. Now when I try to go back into Display, nothing happens. The other items on the Control Panel page come up, but not Display. When I ran a scan disc, it told me that there was about 200,000 bytes
in bad sectors. I guess that means the Hard drive is dying. Could that info. that was in the bad sectors have something to do with this problem ? Is there something like SFC in Windows 95 that I could run and maybe find the bad file / files ? Is there a way I could reinstall Windows 95 over top to fix the files that may be missing, or must I format, and start over ? If I did , would that fix the problem ? Your suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Mike
