View Full Version : New build problem....(Havent we heard that before somewhere?)
Ok, here we go again. Just went to boot up newly built comp for the first time and I get a 1 second beep followed by 2 seconds of silence X infinity. Cant get comp to post. Ive re-seated the ram and the video card and checked all of the connections and everything appears to be fine. Here is whats inside of it so far.
Abit KR7A mobo
amd 1700 xp
256 megs pc2100 ddr crucial ram
ati radeon 7000 agp
antec pp 303-xp ps.
That is everything thing that is in it right now. What do you guys think the problem is?

Is the cpu fan plugged into the cpu header on the motherboard?
Are you using a delta 38 fan?
On some Abit boards,it's neccessary to have the fan for the cpu be plugged into the specific cpu header on the motherboard.
On some motherboards the delta 38 draws too much power for the motherboard to handle and it's advised that it be run off the PS.
Alfie, The hsf that is in this thing is a Thermaltake Volcano 7 5000 rpm fan. I purchased this from TC Computers and they assembled and tested it and according to them it passed all tests. And it is running off of mobo power and not the ps. Eveything in this comp is brand new. Is there anything else you can think of? I dont want to have to pull the mobo out and test it but they may be what it will have to come down to.:(
I just pulled the ram out and re-seated it for the 3rd time and it booted up. GRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!

Glad that you got it!
Reseating everything would be the next suggestion;)
I didnt re-seat it really. I looked at it real closely and noticed one of the latches that locks the ram into the bank wasnt completely closed. I nudged it tight with a screwdriver and BAM! It booted. It appeared to be closed though. <sigh>
