I just got an Asus GeForce 256 V6600 Pure with 32mb SGRAM and it is not working properly. I loaded the drivers that came with it, then I wiped the drivers and loaded the latest 5.32 drivers and it still is messed up. It runs 2D just fine on the desktop but every time I fire up a game it wants to go into software mode. For instance, in Homeworld, it starts out in software mode and when I switch to D3D it just sits there and dumps a load on itself. I have to cntl-alt-delete to get anywhere. This is bugging me to no end. Does anyone have any ideas? Other games won't run either, Q3, Diablo II, etc. I did run a test with the "3D flower box" screen saver in windows and it did the same thing.

How did you go about wiping the drivers?
I would also be sure you are running the latest version of DirectX (7.0a).

Also, what kind of system is it running in?

Someone else had a similar problem with a Hercules Geforce. Turned out that the card was not getting enough voltage, the person changed the voltage (he needed a new mobo) and the card ran fine. You might want to check the Asus site (forum) to see if there is a similar issue with this card.
