There was a thread a few weeks back about gettin' folks from here together for a game or 12 on weekends? Any of ya'll still hostin' servers?

Got myself UT this past week and startin' to hold my own, always lookin for a new game if you guys are still playin...

Unfortunately those frag fests went over like a fart in church. When I got online and posted an IP no one else was around. When others posted an IP (Prader Willi did this often) people got online but there was hardly anyone else around.
I spoke with Dok about a dedicated PC Mech server and he seemed to go for it but the discussion sortof got lost. He's willing to set up a dedicated server if we'll send him the software.

Let's discuss it and see (again) how many people might be interested in a planned time when we could do some fragging!

Any weekend time is good for me, I work evenings during the week so I'm only on weekdays from midnight til.

Whatever is good for you guys.

If you guys want I can host something this weekend on my DSL line for UT, if folks are interested.

I'd be willing to try again. Need a set time though. Last time, people logged on, but at different times, saw no one was there, and left. Let me know, my cable modem is open to use as a server (A PCmech server sounds like a great idea).

If you are going to get a q3 arena server going let me know, I will play tonight. (central time)

Looks like we missed each other again. Had some car work goin on, dind't get on until late this evening.

Ok, let's work something out for next weekend, if anyone wants in on UT. I don't have Q3A, but I can host UT on this DSL line, unless someone else has something faster on cable or what not.

Any weekend time is good for me, you guys lemme know when you want me to post the IP.

I'd be up for some U.T. or Halflife (don't have Q3) on just about any Friday or Saturday night. I've switched my work to dayshift now, so I'll actually be available (I'd been at work for most of the earlier attempts at a fragfest). Let me know! http://www.pcmech.com/ubb/smile.gif

ps: xayd - what speed is your DSL? I could also host here on my 640/90 unless yours is faster (the 90 worries me as far as a good multiplayer game goes...)

Sign me up for UT on Friday or Saturday evening (half-life sounds good too)

I've got the 1.5m/384k DSL, upload around 40, download around 170. I can host six to eight players with good speed, but more than that is gonna be pushin' it. If anyone else has something more synchronous, then by all means offer http://www.pcmech.com/ubb/wink.gif.

I'm workin' Friday evening, how does 7pm EST on Saturday sound?

Hell, if I get this new X server downloaded and some PPPoE software working on my Linux partition, it might even be stable for us... http://www.pcmech.com/ubb/wink.gif

Wow....
I can't believe all these gamers came out of the wood work! Heck sign me up for some fragtastic action too! Saturday at 7 pm sounds good!

I'll have to re-open the discussion with Dok about the dedicated PC Mechanic games server when he gets back from his trip.

K, unfortunately the IP isn't static, but I'll post it when I get online Saturday around 6 pm. Any requests on type of game or maps?

I suppose we could do team games if there are four or more, up to you guys on that one.

Haven't tried as of yet Charliey, just got the line about a week or two ago, and due to other issues had to write zeroes and reinstall, just to get the NIC and tcp/ip stack working in Windoze. When I get around to configuring everything else in Red Hat on this fresh format, probably here in the next couple of days, I'll let you know if I have trouble. I found some PPPoE software, so when I get everything configured I'll see what happens.

Type of game: I have UT, Half-Life, Quake II, Quake. I don't have Q3 yet. Team games are fun-- we can always decide what type of game and map after we see who all logs in.

Think I'd better practice.

It looks like I've been missing out http://www.pcmech.com/ubb/frown.gif. I can't wait until I leave Texas to go back to the caribbean (On St. Thomas in the US Virgin Islands) on August 10th. http://www.pcmech.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

::scratches his trigger finger::

Ok, barring any blue screens or game lockups or lightning strikes to my PC, the address for our game today is unreal://208.191.54.232.

I'll open it up around 6:30 EST.

Does anyone have the counter strike mod for halflife? If so I'm in!
I have UT, but only stock maps. Anyone?

For simplicity and time sake, I'm just gonna run the small stock maps, shouldn't be any downloading necessary.

Bah, that makes no sense, lemme try a new IP

Try this one...

unreal://208.191.54.105

Shouldn't be a problem, just the game open, firewall's off.

Xayd

PS, advertised it this time, see if it shows up under the team deathmatch servers.
