View Full Version : Cat 5 VS Cat 6
Would there be any noticable difference in speed if I replaced my cat 5 cables with cat 6 cables? I have 2 comps connected to a router for file sharing, gaming, and sharing a broadband internet connection. Would it be worth doing or would I hit some sort of bottleneck that wouldnt really make a noticable diffrence in speed?

Don't bother. Save your money.
Thats what I thought, What instances would someone want cat 6 cables?
Cat 6 cables are for Gigabit Ethernet. Figure about $2.00 a foot and it's VERY difficult tipping them yourself. Straight cat 5 is certified to 100 megabit and cat 5E is certified to 350 megabit.
