I'm new to setting up networks and I'm having a lot of difficulty sharing out my friend's cable connection to another computer upstairs, here is the situation:
It's only a two computer network, using what is called "home phone line" which uses the house's own phone lines as the connection media. I would like to share out the internet using a router but that is not an option because they don't want to string the wires through the house.
So I'm stuck with ICS, which I don't really know how to use. I'm pretty sure it only works when other computers on the network have a static IP, but for some reason I can only see the computer upstairs when it's IP is dynamic.
All cables are connected, assigned IP's are correct as far as I know. So I don't know why the computers can't see eachother and the client computer can't get to the internet. Any suggestions? Anyone use ICS?
Thanks,
