I've finally decided to actually get a printer. My other printer was made in 1996 and is getting pretty old. I'm looking for a printer that can print near photographic quality. What I'm trying to say is, I want a printer that will be noticably better than my older one. I dont care about speed of the printer, just quality. Not trying to do anything fancy either, just print some photos and stuff for school. Is there any printer out there thats under 250 bucks and has nice print quality?? thanks

The hp 900 series are good printers. The 960 is quite nice. The 920 is being closed out for under $100. Be careful about the cable too; some printers only come with a USB connection. Great if you can use it, bad if you don't have a USB port. The better printers have both USB and parallel.

I agree with the HP 900 series unless you are willing to deal with the quirks of an Epson. Epsons have the best photo quality, period, but have a history of mechanical problems and go through ink like crazy.

Before all you Epson fans get on my case, for every person that loves their Epson, there is one that hates its guts. We stopped selling them because of an unacceptable return rate. HP's stay sold.

whr2206,
Whatever you do, stay away from low-end Canons.

Hi GLC,
Man do I like it when someone calls a spade a spade. Hope you don't mind if I make a enlargement of your post and stick it on my office wall. Then I won't have to explain to every Tom, Dick & Harry
Directors etc why we have so many Deskjet 930, 950, 959, 970, 980 &990's in our organization. THEY NEVER BREAK.

I've had a HP 990CSE since they came out. Great printer, fast, quiet and does great pictures and text.

Would be hard pressed to buy another brand. HP does the jobs I need done and does them quickly. I especially like loading the paper from the front in a tray and having it come back out the front. Don't have to worry about clearance for paper sticking up out the back.

alrught, I'll probably pick up an HP 900 series somewhere. I'm really bad when it comes to troubleshooting printers so I want a durable and hassle free one.... thanks
