cookie crumbs & optical mice?

Hi,

I'm thinking about buying the Logitech FREEDOM-Pro-Optical keyboard and mouse but I must admit I am a bit of a piglet around my computer.

Will cookie crumbs etc screw up an optical mouse????

As long as you keep your mousing area clean so that the crumbs don't collect in the lens, there shouldn't be a problem.

Thank you but that's just it- I honestly doubt I can keep my mousing area really clean... Can the optical lenses be cleaned or should I just forget it? Thanx again.

You can clean it, just clear out the dust from around the lens. It not nearly as bad as ball mouses.

You should see the crumbs around the computer my wife and daughter use... it's the reason I switched to an optical.

Replacement of Mouse Balls

If a mouse fails to operate or should it performerratically, it may
need a ball replacement. Mouse balls are now available as FRU

My intellimouse has survived Dorito crumbs, cookie crumbs and god knows whatever gets on my mouse pad by my seven year old. Optical is the only way to go!!

P.S......Bosco, my wife stole my balls, had to go optical. Know where I can oder FRU's to get my mouse up and running again??:p
