Giving credit where credit is due, wedor had mentioned Mail Washer in a previous post and how it helped rid his email of spam.
I d/l'd Mail Washer about 2 weeks ago and I can't say enough good things about it. It works!!
I like the way it displays your email thats still sittin' on your server and gives you the choice of having it bounced back to the sender and then deletes it. Pretty soon, all you have is 2 clicks and the spam is gone and the emails from family and friends are then downloaded to your email program.
The program is free. The author does ask for a voluntary donation of $3.00 to $20.00 but it is still your choice. You get some extras for $20.00 and that is why I'm donating to his fund.
So if your email is loaded with unwanted spam each time you look, here is a nice way to start getting rid of it.

I've been using Mail Washer since April -- GREAT program. I've turned many friends on to it. I actually sent a rather scathing letter to C|NET regarding a recent article about SPAM-stopping programs and how they didn't include this donationware gem (they only included two programs -- both cost over $50/year to use).

They replied that they rely on developers for software to rate -- I responded that they had just lost a reader to their weekly e-newsletter as that is really not acceptable journalism when you are making a comparison -- you've got to use any and all products.

Their reply -- and I quote: "Although we are sorry to see you remove yourself from our mailing list, please do not think losing one reader will hurt us. C|NET must look out for it's enterprise and thus we promote our sponsoring programs when we post reviews". Nice -- and sent from a dummy alias so I have no clue who actually sent it from C|NET. Won't be visiting C|NET or ZDNet anytime soon I guess......

Anyway, Mail Washer's a gem of a program well worth a donation to the developer.

Mailwasher is definitely a wonderful program. I've been using it since March of this year in desperation to rid the spam I was receiving. This was my last attempt before changing my email address. I was receiving around 175 junk mails everyday, and MailWasher has it down to around 25.

I’ve been hearing about mail washer for a while now. Well it made a believer out of me. I’ve gotten in the neighborhood of SEVENTY virus-infected emails today….I’m betting the bounce back feature isn’t getting them back to where they originated, but at lease I have a lot more peace of mind.

My Mail Washer is for home use. If you should use it for a business, be careful when you first open it for the day.
If you have email from someone not on your friends list, it will show to bounce it back or delete it.
My wife had given our email address to a supervisor at work and didn't tell me. Needless to say, my wife didn't get a very important email.
You need to peruse the email sitting on the server and make your adjustments before you process mail.

My only question is, why is spamcop on the list of DNS blacklisted servers??

This is off the FAQ section:

Q. What is a DNS spam Blacklist server?

A. This is a site that hosts a list of known hosts that let, or have been known to send spam in the past.

I've had it for about 3 weeks and my spam list is getting shorter.
