I want to upgrade to 2.0 USB. I was told that if my bus speed was less than 200 I would not be able to fully utilize 2.0 external hardware. Is this correct and if so why?

WOW so you're gonna install USB 2.0 on your computer, fantastic.
So what ya gonna connect to it???? Cause the only thing that I see available out there is overpriced external hard drives and external CD-RW drives.
IMHO, wait for a while until the prices and availability of USB 2 hardware is better. I have read some articles that state USB 2.0 may be to late in arriving to displace Firewire and as such may not catch on with the consumer hardware manufactures.

Something to take note of. I just did an upgrade for a guy and he wanted a dual boot ot Win98 and WinXP. His motherboard has USB 2.0, but when I went to get drivers for it (believe it or not, they were not included on the motherboard CD), I could not get USB 2.0 drivers for Win98, only Win2K and XP.
I bought a Adaptec usb2connect 5100 and it has drivers for Windows 98 up to Xp for it and works great . The card is a little more expensive but no problems, hopes this helps ,Gary
