Is it possible to mix a 64 MB PC100 SDRAM with a 128 MB PC133 SDRAM into an HP Pavilion PC ?

Thanks

It may work, HP's are proprietary...might not like the new memory
but if it does work it, they will both run at the slowest speed 100mhz

Hi daisiee69,

You might be able to and then you might not...it sort of depends. Which RAM is in the HP now? Is the new RAM generic or a recommended one for the HP?

PC100 cannot run on a system meant to run the FSB at 133MHz. You can run PC133 at 100MHz, but that doesn't mean it will get along with the existing PC100.

You could just try sticking the new RAM in and see what happens. If the system likes the new RAM, it should boot up okay. If it doesn't like the new RAM, it will probably halt with an error message.

Thanks Cricket for the fast reply. I did try it and the PC booted ok. It now has 191 MB and seems to be running fine. I didn't know what to expect if it couldn't be done. Now, I know that it should be ok since it booted fine and its working fine.

Thanks again,
Daisie
