Recording A Bass Guitar

Hey thar. I have a sound blaster live platinum card. Im trying to record a Bass guitar streight into the comp but no matter what i do withy any settings the final result is always maxing out and buzzing or fuzzing.
Anyone know how i can sort this? any help much ablidged.
P.S. It plays Bass fine from my music files so its not my speakers or amp.

Go here and see if they have something you need. I know they have it for the guitar so they should have it for the bass too. I dont own one, but have used um, they work great!
