I have a usb cable that came with my new digital camera. I seen someone had a clearance on a 1394 cable with the connector on the other end that my camera accepts. Would the computer recognize this as well as the usb and would I notice an increase in speed since the 1394 is faster than my usb 1.1 ports - or is it limited by the speed of the camera/memorycard?
I didn't find any mention of using a firewire port in the camera's manual so thought I'd ask here.
Thanks guys.

I wouldn't think that would work. Firewire and USB are two totally different concepts, so while the plug on the camera end may be the same, the communication method is going to be different ans as far as I know, there is no such thing as a single port on a camera capable of USB or Firewire data transfer.
I highly doubt it - USB is USB and Firewire is Firewire.

I agree with Hal and Glc, even if it did work I doubt that there would be any speed increase.

Thanks - I'll just stick with what I got then! :)
Consider buying a memory card reader, saves the camera batteries and you don't have to use the software that came with the camera to offload it.
