I am trying to get the sound to play in some old DOS based games. (Doom, Pirates Gold) My MB has the Via 97 enhanced audio on board sound that I guess is supposed to be SB compatable. I have run the setups and the sound should work but doesn't. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?
I am using Win ME

I assume you are trying to run these games from Windows, right?

Make a DOS boot disk with the drivers for your CD-ROM and mouse in it. You won't need the sound drivers as the games have built in sound support. This is a very difficult project, believe me. I just went hrough it, but it was worth it. I can now play Sam & Max or Day of the Tentacle on my computer. If you don't know a lot about DOS, then you are prolly out of luck. If you can't find DOS drivers for your mouse, download some from Microsoft (search their site for Dos mouse drivers). Their mouse DOS drivers work for almost any mouse. Also, you can get a generic CD-rom driver from a Windows boot disk.

In the BIOS make sure that you have the SB Legacy support enabled.

As morris said you must enable Sound Blaster emulation in the BIOS.
