Hi,
I am not a serious gamer and am pretty new to pc gaming. There is some games I like to play though and I do not have a controller or game pad to play them and was wondering what would be a good one to buy. I like to play racing games and some shoot 'em up and stategy games. I am looking for a fairly inexpensive but good quality and features- I would not mind spending $30 - $40. Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi wireant,

Take a look at Logitech's controllers (they have several models), I like those best.

I like the plain ol' MS sidewinder... I have an older one thats not USB, which I don't think they have anymore, but look for the "Classic" sidewinder.

I use the M$ strategic commander for 1st person shooters and it works great even though it was designed for RTS. No good for racers though.

The Thrustmaster Firestorm Dual Power 2 is pretty good.

I second Dr. Zaius' suggestion for the Logitechs. I have the Logitech Wingman with rumble. Its an excellent controller, I didnt have any problems with it. Ive seen this same controller recommended in PCGamer.

I got it at CompUSA for $30, excellent value.
