Before using this program, my normal cpu temp was in the upper 40's at idle. Now I'm sitting at 39 idle. Could it really work that good, and if so, will it damage anything?

Hi ozzfreak,

CPU idling programs like CPUIdle, Waterfall and Rain have been around awhile and do work (overclockers and tweakers have been using them for years). I think WinNT has CPU idling software built into it already.

It only works when your system is idle, so under load you'll see the same upper temps. A 10 degree drop in idle temps is common.

I haven't heard anything that suggest it will permanently damage your system. But it is software that's running in background all the time and I guess there's the chance that it can interfere with other programs. It may cause interference or background noises through some sound cards.

Try it for awhile and see how you like it. If there are no adverse effects from it's use, leave it on your system. Remember, it doesn't lower temps while the system is under load. The upper temp will be the same as before.
