I've had a few WindowsMe problems in the past year or so which only seem to appear the longer I've had WindowsMe re-installed on my system.
Now it's been a few weeks since I re-installed WindowsMe (for the zillionth time) and the first thing I done was switched off the WindowsMe automatic updates.

For the first time since I've used Me I've not encountered any problems.

My main problem was Windows Explorer and since I barred WindowsMe from updating I've not had any error messages.

Could anyone shed some light on this?

P.S. I'd like to hear from anyone who's installed Internet Explorer 6.0 on their Me machine. Installing 6.0 causes my machine to suffer from the blue screen of death.

I still have WinME on my second machine, automatic updates are on, IE6 is installed, updates are installed as we are notified of them, never had a single glitch from it that way with a Celeron 1100/128k on a QDI BX9 motherboard.

Is there any updates I "NEED" for WindowsMe?

I'm not switching automatic updates on unless there is something my system NEEDS.

I don't remember my last self built system (a Pentium3-600) having any problems with updates which I used for about 9 months with no probs.

You need all of the critical updates listed.

Changing the subject for a second. I noticed you said Canadians dont say "aboot". I noticed that Canadians always seem to say that in South Park.
Funny that, when I first seen a send up of a Canadian on TV saying "aboot" I thought that because a high perentage of Canadians have Scots ancestry they still say some Scots words. Scots still to this day dont say "about", they say "aboot".

It's certainly annoying when us Scots (through the English media) are portrayed as kilt wearing, whiskey drinking, nessie watching, mountain living, haggis chasers. Oh and by the way, I've been around for a long long time and I've yet to hear someone say "hoots mon".
I'd love to know if Canadians were portrayed in a derogatory way by the American media.

Aren't you all like Willie on the Simpsons? I still think one of the biggest misconceptions I get whenever I go south of the boarder is that I say "eh" after every sentence. Well, I don't. Sure, it is a Canadian habit to say "eh", but it's something that flows out naturally and placing it at the end of every sentence just sounds stupid.

South Park hardly represents any nationality correctly ;)

I dont know, I quite like Willie. I think theres a bit in every Scots person like Willie or dare I say it....Fat Bast.... from the Austin Powers movie. Mike Myers, the worlds favourite Canadian. He lived in Scotland for a while so his Fat Bast.... or Shrek accents are really quite good (for a North American). lol
