I got this game awhile back, played for about 2 weeks straight, kept getting "clobbered" on the easy levels.
Anybody have any useful tips? I want to play this some more, but not get "clobbered"
thx

The key is to expanding as quickly as you can at the start. Build as many cities as you can and build up their culture early on instead of building alot of defense. Research as quickly as you can and try to get the cavalry before anyone else. With cavalry, world domination is easy.

As with most Civilization games, although I havent played III, the key is to get as far ahead in science as you can. This was my strategy in Civilization II: get all technologies, change to a fundamentalist government to keep poeple happy and then go kill poeple with a massive army. Technology has always been the key to those games. And expanding and building cities is the only way to do that quickly.

I would start by reading the manual, especially the sections on managing cities and your empire, also, the sections on combat. I found that an understanding of the fundamental ways the game works allow you to find tune your empire for a specific goal at a specific time.

For instance, if you want to build an army, the manual tells you to open up the governors menu for your cities to most effectively produce the right types of units. Then the chapter on combat tells you what types of units best defeat other types. In other words how to most effectively pick your battles.

Even though it is a big chunk of reading, the knowledge it contains is the best source for winning.

The same people who wrote it made the game, and they should know what they are talking about.

Best of luck, and just wait till you get the nukes. . .ohh baby.
