View Full Version : keyboard shortcuts do not work

I depend heavily on keyboard shortcuts to start programs and now these shortcuts do not work. They are still assigned. When I attempt to use them nothing happens. The shortcuts within the individual MS Office programs still work. I cannot think of anything that I have changed such as adding or removing programs, etc., that would have caused this.

How can I correct this?

Thank you for your time,
Henry

I've seen your problem fixed by extracting a new shell32.dll file into the system folder at c:\windows\system.

Have solved this problem. Was related to Tweak UI program setting to hide shortcut arrows on desktop. If anyone else has this problem, you can simply reverse the setting and the shortcuts work fine. There is a better way to hide shortcut arrows by editing the registry.
Thanks,

Actually, the first cause of the problem was some Critical Update from MS. That Critical Update caused the Tweak UI Hide Shortcut Arrows to not function. Some people (like I did), made a registry change to get the Hide Arrow function back. In doing so, it discomboobiated the short cut keys.

I solved the problem by replacing the Shell32.dll from the Windows disk. Actually, I took it from another computer.

I was not aware of the Critical Update info. I made a registry change and have not had any problems with the shortcuts and the arrows remain hidden. Everything is working well for now.
Thx
