arghhh.,...sound still no good..directx help

i just formatted and reinstalled win98 and all my other stuff...damnnnnn and my sound still wont work...

ran directx diagnostics and still having directsound failure...

anyone please help me???

my regular sounds like desktop sounds and winamp etc works....its only my directsound that wont work....directx related......i already installed latest driver for my soundcard and still no luck..

Did you try upgrading direct X?

Could you list the soundcard you're using Brand and model number. Are you installing any extra software for the soundcard besides the drivers?

my guess without knowing your card is cued from Cricket's suggestion: what other software did you have installed for your soundcard?
often times (especially with sound and video) software will enable or disable full functions of a card. manufacturers sometimes have diagnostics on their website...
let us know what you have....
