Realised I can't find a decent 98SE boot disk that's something like the good old 95 bootdisk, for installing fresh OS. Anyone willing to point me to a decent 98SE boot disk, that is straight forward and not so much graphfical, and fits nicely in a 1.44MB FD ?
Thanks in advance

Hey Moonlight:
Try Here:
www.bootdisk.com
KK
Why bother with 1.44 FD :confused:
No need for a floppy. The CD is bootable.
Just boot from CD and don't worry about not having a floppy.

Hi moonlight burner,
FYI: You can make a nice bootdisk from the Win98 CD itself. Put in the CD and seek out \tools\mtsutil\fat32ebd\fat32ebd.exe and double click on the .exe file. Make sure you have "show all files" selected and "Hide file extensions" unchecked in Folder options of Windows Explorer.

Your CDROM driver is on the hard drive so don't use fdisk on the hard drive to remove the partitions, or your driver for the CDROM will be gone and your CDROM will be unreadable.
If you boot from the CD, you can use FDISK right away.
If you want to format you have to switch to the Win98 subfolder first (there format is stored).
@piasabird
This is wrong. The Win98 CD has a cdrom drive on it, and when you boot from CD, you can access the entire CD, no matter if there is an OS on the hard drive or not.

Yep, weather it's a CD or a floppy DOS is still DOS. You can also make a floppy boot disk by going to Start>Settings>Control panel
then double click on the 'add and remove programs' icon. Then hit the startup tab on the right, this will make you a 98 floppy boot disk with CD drivers, fdisk, format and everything. It should be on your CD too like RJ says, but not all 98 setup disks are bootable. I (I'm thinking he may have one of those restore disk, it boots and formats, but no fdisk)

You know guys running win98se on my machines, I know it won't be long before I do a fresh installation after say 5~6 months . I recently did a reinstall , booting with Win95 bootdisk, that I got from my training teacher, boy I really treat like 'gold':D But you know, it's really not the right way to do it. Well, at least I can do the right way next time, as expected.:D But I think it's inevitable upgradinjg, well also the hardware, as newer OS 's really demanding. Who then would want Pentuim 2 or 3, now that 4 is out, and soon the , what you call it ," Uranium" processor, if I remember correctly to be out soon. Boy Technology don't stick around for people to get familar with it. Its' no such thing as , the trade you've master, and you benefit for life, we need to keep chasing after the game. Well I guss "Money", keeps it running round and round.
Thanks !
