A friend of mine was over a few weeks ago and decided to show me his computer wizardry by accidently shutting off the auto-virus protect in regedit (I think) anyway I can't seem to get it turned back on. I don't know enough about regedit or sysedit or config, ect. to do much messing around in there. Does someone know how I could turn it back on?

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Symantec\Norton AntiVirus NT\Auto-Protect

Look for a key that looks like the above. It may not say Norton Antivirus NT, but something similar. In the autoprotect folder look for the autoprotect key. Double click on it, and set the decimal value to 1 rather than 0. 1 and 0 are like a light switch. 1 is on, 0 is off. That's probably all that he did. Just flipped a switch. Tell him your not impressed, and to stay out of your registry.

Yes, I'm sorry. Go to start -> run and type in regedit. I should come up for you. Go through the folders by clicking in the + signs next to the folders, until you get down to the last one in that sequence. Hope this helps.

O.K. Here is the path I followed;
software/symantec/norton anti-virus/auto-protect/internal settings,
Here is what it shows;
'icon' (Default) (value not set)
'icon' ExecuteAgent 0x00000001 (0)
'icon' ShowUlWhile... 0x00000001 (0)

Are those two the ones I switch to on?
