I recently upgraded my pc the specifications are:

Iwill XP333 Mother board
Kingmax 256 DDR 333 ram x 3
HD seagate 7200
AMD 1.8 xp plus

Here is the problem....hope someone could shed a light to my problems. I installed Winme, all the drivers and Antivirus.
However, when I run DOS mode in windows it keeps on saying "Memory not enough please quit other programs to run this program".

It doesn't make any sense as I am using 256 DDR 333 rams.
Is the PC too fast for the OS that it mess up everything? Please help. By the way when I install Win XP everything runs smoothly. Another thing is that when I run on Win XP my computer shuts down all of a sudden, and when I restarts the PC there is an error about the "minidump"

Once again, I hope someone could help me. Thanks a lot.

I'm trying to think of the exact procedure off the top of my head and it's something like this. In the shortcut to the DOS program, Right click and go to properties. In the window that comes up, there should be a tab for Memory. Try increasing this number. This will allocate more memory for this program to run.

Hi iggie,

Before you go into a DOS window, you should close down all other programs.

Although you have a lot of physical memory, it makes no difference when you go into DOS. DOS has a memory limit of 640K for the core portions of the program you want to use. If this 640K is almost used up, you won't be able to start up another program.

What are you doing in the DOS windows?

Win Me is finicky, and you didn't say why you needed DOS but as an old DOS user myself (still use laplink through DOS for several things like transfer of data from my laptop to my desktop) rather than using DOS via windows try making a DOS boot disc and just boot to DOS. There are quite a few DOS programs that won't run under the DOS prompt from Win ME. I miss my WIN 98 SE because it was so easy to switch between the two OS (DOS and WIN).

I believe you can find info about creating a DOS boot by searching DOS boot for Win ME

I found just the opposite and that stuff that I had that was fussy under a DOS prompt in 95/98 ran flawlessly under WinME.
