ATI TV WONDER /SURF LIST
I have the ATI TV WONDER USB EDITION installed on my PC running Windows Me !I have sent ATI support several request for help with my problem with 0 results ! When you have the T.V. on your desktop in a re-sizable box , if you click on the football shaped icon with the round circle in the middle (channel surf) you are suppose to get a thumbnail veiw of stations. I have run the initialazation wizard , there is the eyeglass icon in the TV tuner next to many stations , when I roll my mouse pointer over the eyeglass it says surf list . However when I click on the football icon , it appears as if it attemps to show the thumbnail veiw , then it flashes an error message, "There are no channels selected in the surf list" I have read the setting up guide and tried removing the eyeglass from all but a few select stations all to no avail. Can anyone please help me ? Iam very curious as to why this feature will not work ! Thanks to All,NicRic

Well Nic let me say you're lucky the tv card works at all.
I purchased a TV card from ATI , think ing it would work with my ATI rage 128 video, right wrong, it was not compatible. I called and talked to the tech's and they told be the cards are not compatible. Now what kind of company makes product that won't work with their own products??? go figure. Now i got me a 100 dollar paper weight:mad:

gadiator, Iam sorry to hear about your situation. It seems unreal that they would make this product and it would not even work with their own graphics card ! I finally recieved a response from ATI's support on my problem. The email made no sense. Frist they recomended I upgrade the driver for my graphics card , the driver update requires DirectX 8.1 , I have 8.0 installed now . I have read alot of post from people having problems with DirctX 8.1 in WinMe ? Plus they dont tell me if this will corect the problem. My system is working to good for me to take a chance on messing it up , just for thumbnail veiws of stations. They made some referance that thier engineering dept. was looking into this problem ! Making me believe this feature does not work for others either. Its to bad they cant do something for you ? Does it state anywhere on the box that its not compatable with your card. You should get a refund. Except for the prblem I have with the channel surf thingy, I like the TV WONDER, and use it everytime Iam on the internet. Thanks & Good Luck, NicRic

Gladiator, I sell almost strictly ATI products and don't see why you would have received that answer as I have never had any trouble getting any of the ATI add-in cards to work with any of the ATI cards. The only situation might be the older ISA add-in that requires the data cable to cross over to the video card as the newer cards don't have this data link. If that's the case, then it's a lack of research on your part that it doesn't work for you.
NicRic, enter the control panel setup and click on the TV Tuner tab.... do you have stations checked off. The surf function will display all the channels that are checked.
I've run DX8.1 on my systems for quite some time without any issues, so go ahead and upgrade it.

Thanks HAL9000,
I believe I have tried every variation in the T.V. tuner box. After I run the Initialization Wizard. I have alot of stations with the check mark to the left of the station # . Then the eyeglass icon is also next to the station. When I run the mouse pointer over the eyeglass icon it says surf list. Yet when I click on the football icon below the TV screen , I recieve the error "There are no stations selected in the surf list" Iam still scratching my head on this one. Next to the eyeglass icon the box available to add a check mark I belive is for the parental control option. I will keep playing with it. So you think I should do the driver upgrade for my RADEON Graphics card, it requires DirectX 8.1. Iam nervious about it , but I will give it a try ! Thanks Again,Nick

I've never run across a problem installing or running DX8.1 and I do this stuff for a living... so go for it.

Thanks HAL, I will go for it with more confidence ! Sincerely,Nick
If anything, DX 8.0 is the buggy version - 8.1 fixed a lot of problems.

Hey Hal ATI told me that about 3 yrs ago when I first built this computer since then they may be doing better.
I have noticed a lot of posititive feed back on their lastest Video cards
But Even this ATI rage 128 I got in this machine now is -was hard to configure I just put in a new HD and had a hard time installing the drivers, it turned out I had to upgrade my AGP drivers, I know I had trouble 3 yrs ago also trying to install the card (I had a bunch of notations in my win98 book) I just don't remember what I had done to get it to work 3yrs back??
Anyway it's working now, finally
Where there's a will there's a way.

You must be running a VIA/ALi/SiS chipset. With those, yea, you gotta get the motherboard drivers done first, upgrade the vid driver, then DX and all will go well. I primarily build Intel on Intel chipset systems (recently adding SiS into the mix) and there was never a driver installation issue.
