I just received an invitation to sign up for the beta testing of Earth & Beyond, the new Westwood Studios' MMORPG.

And this brought me back to a thought thas has been torturing my mind for some months: are the single player RPGs doomed? Will they disappear?

Everything seems now online based. Online based games. Online massive multiplayer RPGs. Seems that we dial-up and loner users will be left out in the cold, replaying Fallout and BG over and over again.

What do you think?

Morrowind!

Go get it, great game. Just make sure your system is up to the task.

Adventure games went out of fashion not too long ago. Well, eons ago in terms of computer years, but only in the 90's for the rest of us. Broadband, wireless, etc are becoming more popular, thus allowing programmers to do what has not been done before. So, it is just another fad. I doubt RPGs will fade out, there are too many D&D nerds out there. :) But, as I see it, FPS are the king of the day for now.

Still, there are many good RPGs out there, like Morrowind.
