Right click my computer, click proerties...
Here it is for win2k, should be about the same for xp (I don't have an xp machine around right now)

Uncheck the box I have underlined....make sure you have the proper OS selected in the drop down box above it.

In XP, you will have an edit button that isn't in Cobra's gif. of 2K. Select edit and change the name of one of the bootloader options within the quotes: [Boot Loader]
Timeout=5
Default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[Operating Systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINDOWS=" Roger's Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Peg's Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect
C:\="Microsoft Windows 98 IS A TOY OS"
I have a tripple boot, and have identified the two copies of XP. Reboot after you have identified the two copies and boot to each one so you know exactly what to look for. Go back to the edit option in the BOOT- notepad and delete the boot information that you want to remove from the bootloader. Save and exit the notepad. The next time you boot, there will only be the one option.
