I've d/l'd IE6 and then Mozilla on my play machine. Since IE6 was a new d/l, I didn't have my Favorites installed and when I d/l'd Mozilla, my Favorites list is empty.
I exported my Favorites from this machine, exported them to my play machine in IE6 and now would like to get them into Mozilla.
How do I do that?
BTW, I'm giving Mozilla a try and working with it to see if its better then IE or the same. Thats what my play/test machine is for. ;)

I couldn't find an "import" like option, the best way I can think of is reinstalling Mozilla.

aym_7,
I was afraid you were going to say that. Oh well, I don't have that many favorites and I can add them as I go along.
Thanks for the reply.
Carl
I hope that someone else knows a way to export IE favs to Mozilla, moving favs one by one is pain.
The installer scans for IE favorites when you install Mozilla, and any found will be placed in a folder called "Imported IE Favorites" or some such.
If you made bookmarks after installing Mozilla in IE, well, that's on the wishlist for future versions atm.
Netscape scans for IE favorites whenever it starts, Mozilla only imports them once, when it's installed.
If you reinstall Mozilla it should pick them up.

Yeah, I did the same thing a while back and with my list of IE Favorites (500+) it was a lot easier to reinstall Mozilla than to import them one by one.

Well then your situation is not as bad as mine, but they are not all mine some are my wife's and daughter's approximately 350 are mine.

All you do is in IE, go to file-import/export, and export the bookmarks to and HTML file.... Then go into moz, bookmarks-manage, then tools-import. Done.

I will have to try that next time Orc. Thanks

Orcmonkey,
So far it will let me import to Mozilla the contents of one folder at a time. So now I have to scroll a long list of favorites that are in no particular order. I assume I need to make new folders to catagorize the favorites.

IE should have exported the entire contents of it's favorites file as html -- why it wouldn't is beyond me. But in any event, Mozilla will easily import the html file as a new bookmarks file.

audiyoda,
I went ahead and reinstalled Mozilla and imported the Favorites. It moved all of them but kinda messy. Nothing in order in each folder, so I'm trying how to learn to put them an alpha order.
Mozilla has its own quirks to get around, but I'm learnin'.

Hit Ctrl/B and then look in the View menu - the sort options are in there.

Thanks, glc.
I'll be playing with it some more when I get home from work tonight.

Well ya gotta remember that Mozilla is just now version 1.0 :).
Their focus to this point has been making a stable browser. Now that that's done, you'll probably see more 'toys' in future versions.

If you go to bookmarks and click on manage bookmarks, then go back up to the top and click on tools, in there you will be able to 'import' favorites like you wanted to. Sorry I didnt see this before you reinstalled. My personal thoughts on Mozilla, I love it. I was a long time IE user, but not anymore. Very fast and stable.

ssahl,
I've got all my favorites now and I used "drag n drop" to put them alpha order.
Now if I could just put "Home" in the tool bar with everything else.;)
Carl
Go to Edit > Preferences > Navigator and check "Home"

I was trying to get "Home" listed without clicking the "Go" button. Home is checked in preferences.
Thats ok though, its just one extra click.
Thanks,
Carl
