usb 2.0 drivers

i have the asus a7v333 motherboard i have the jumper set to enable usb 2.0 does anyone know where i can get the drivers.

Didn't they come with the mobo's CD? Have you tried the ASUS web site?

You may have to download the drivers - I just bought an Intel board with USB 2.0 and it came with a flyer in the box saying that Micro$oft did not have them ready in time for making the CD and they would have to be downloaded.

I have the same problem, build a Intel system 845EBG2 yesterday 1.8a P4, but the USB 2 drivers are not fully installed. Where do I download them from? Used this board on your reccomendation (saw a post couple days ago) and I think it is super COOL. How's this for fast, from switching on to everything fully loaded 17 seconds.!!!

I bought a USB 2.0 PCI card that came with drivers on a floppy. Like to drove me nuts as I kep't getting inpage errors when I tried to install them. This computer has alot of RAM and I had the pagefile deleted. I guess windows handles small files in funny ways. I opened it to 32 MB and they loaded fine. I had about 600 MB of free RAM at the time.

All necessary drivers are on the motherboard CD that came with the mobo. Also, there are new updated drivers at Asus's site.

The USB 2.0 drivers are available via Windows Update. As far as I know only windows 2000 and XP support USB 2.0. If you don't want to use windows update you can download from Asus as well. Just check around on their FTP site. HTH

Since it is an AMD mobo, by Asus, I would (and did) go with Asus supplied drivers. I've done several builds with this mobo and all the USB ports work.

I've got 5 of my 6 ports filled right at this very moment and every thing works just fine. However, I have to admit, I don't currently own any certified USB 2.0 devices to test, but all my pre-2.0 devices work without a hitch whether the're plugged into either the "legacy" ports or the 2.0 ports.

I got your PM, but I also post my reply here:

1) first, why do you say they don't work? does Any USB device work in their ports?
2) did you set the jumpers correctly? see p.24
3) did you load the drivers from the mobo CD?

Steps 2 & 3 has worked for the several builds I've done with the mobo, but if not for you, then:

4) did you download the updated drivers from Asus's site?
5) you may concider a BIOS flash update....

Is it true that 98SE/ME does not support USB 2 ? This is from what I can make out on Intel site.

I believe USB 2.0 is only supported under windows 2000 and XP.

I don't think so.... USB 2.0 add-on cards work with other versions of windows, and on-board USB is just a built in add-on card. The hardware is there, and the drivers are there...

Plus, if USB 2.0 didn't run in Win 98, then I would imagine that my 4 USB 2.0 ports wouldn't work at all, and they do. I have a printer in one, a scanner in another, a "all-in-one" in a third, and my keyboard "USB hub" in the forth, with a 6-in-1 memory card reader pluged into my keyboard. All currently plugged in, and all currently working just fine.

Thanks for the quote. I read it as this concerns Windows native support, and I don't doubt that MicroSoft will Not add support to Win98.

But that's the beauty of add-in / on cards, they add functionallity that wouldn't otherwise be there. Win98 didn't support SCSI but there are a ton of members who run SCSI on their Win98 machines thru the use of add on cards.

Built in USB support is just another built in add-on/in card, like on board audio. Just like a separte USB add-on board, the controller and other supporting hardware and software is indeed third party with the drivers being specifically writen for "legacy" OSs like Win 98.

As I mentioned above, my USB 2.0 ports are functional, and the A7V333 mobo also has two USB 1.1 "legacy" ports for a total of six USB ports. If only the 1.1 ports functioned, then that would be one thing, but all my ports work.

I just checked my drivers (as I didn't have the above mentioned problem) and it is version 2.0.0.1 dated 2.2.02.

The new version, 2.0.2 is dated 3.27.02

I downloaded the newer version anyway and will install them this weekend...

And Intel have no driver for USB 2 for ME ? I have 4 USB2 ports on my board 845EBG2 and they run fine with USB1 but shows Yellow ? in device manager. Importer tells me they are still talking to Intel ?

Sorry to hear you're having such troubles.... I haven't installed the 2.0.2 drivers yet, so I don't know if I'll run into troubles.

The only thing that comes to mind for you is to: delete the USB controller(s) in the Device Manager, physically remove all USB devices from your ports, and then use the Add/Remove applet on the Control Panel to Remove all prior version(s) of the USB installer / controller. Install the new software, then reboot.
