Hi,
Im a N00bi3 to the forum,
I was wondering what kinda temps people are getting from their set-ups. Maybe everyone interested could write their CPU and case temps, in idle and load. Just a thought.
Im still trying to decide what heatsink to get, im caught between the AX-7 and SLK800. I leaning towards the AX7, as it means I can buy a few more fans for the case..
Any advice appeciated. Ohh yeah, I'll use Artic Silver, and once everything sorted, its time to overclock :D

Welcome to the forums. Not an AMD fan, but my Intel cpu runs about 35-45'C Anything over 60'C would be cause for concern.

PII 300MHz with 1 92mm Panaflo L1A exhaust fan and a slot fan under the STB Velocity 128 3D AGP (Nvidia Riva 128) video card.
CPU idle temp: I have no idea
CPU temp under load: Sort of hot?
Motherboard idle temp: Who knows?
Motherboard temp underload: A little warmer than when idle.
Actually, this is a DELL Dimension XPS D300 that has no health monitoring hardware or software so I can't monitor temps...but the system runs stable and that's all I really care about.

Nah, you can go over 60 without any harm, although most coolers should do better and you may want to see if one of your cooling devices is dying.
You can run a computer to 95C or more before you exceed the specifications. Only if you overclock would you need to worry about 60-70C temps.
Mine will run from about 32C to about 46C.

My temps don't count,as I use Thermalrights SK6 and a Delta 30 cfm fan,coupled with V-cool.
CPU temp is 30.4c normal load
heavy load is in the 38c range.
The cooling difference between the 2 heatsinks you've chosen is nominal.
The one I'd choose is the AX7 coupled with a variable fan.
The advantages are the aluminium fins allow for quicker heat dissappation(sp?) and is 1/2 the price!
Currently running a Duron 800@1000mhz.

Hi all,
Just got back in, WOW,some nice responses!
got some nice figures in that lot, that I can only hope to to achieve!
I just ordered the AX-7, some Artic Silver3, and about 3fans.
So I will let you guys know what my figures come to after appliying everything.
Alfie, thanks for the extra advice on the HSF, as said above, sticking with the AX-7, and buying a few more fans with the rest of the cash. I made a mistake, I bought a really cheap case, has no airlow through it, so I guess its time to start modding it!:D
Thanks for all the resposes. Keep um coming ! :)

In the winter I get:
35C idle, and 40C under load
Right now in the middle of the summer I get:
43C idle, and 50C under load

My 1700+ runs about 40idle, 47load. Thats with the stock heatsink and a Delta38.
With the stock fan, temps were about 46idle, 50load.

27c case, 29c cpu {load} asus p4s533, PC2700-512mb, oc'ed 1.8A @2.25ghz, TT volcano 7+, 2-90mm fans in/out, 2-80mm fans out + P/S fan, TT DDR heatspreader/fan, 40mm Northbridge fan/HS. 30c is about as hot as the cpu gets even when doing a cpu burn {at medium speed} the case is a MAXTOP.
