I have no idea where to put this, so I am sure the mods can move it for me:)

Anyways, my computer has a BIOS which is completely different from one of my friends, and different from my old computer. My computer is a 1.6 Northwood with a Intel D850MV board. My friend has a Soyo board. My old computer has a Gigabyte board (I have forgotten the code, but think in the terms of a Pentium 1 chip on it. It can also only support 128 memory, but it doesn't support it that well, in fact I only have 64 on it)

Now my old computers BIOS, and my friends BIOS are something nearly correct. Old computer has a blue screen with the options going down in two menus :

BIOS User Password
CMOS Supervisor Password
Chipset Quit and save with new options
Power Setup Quit and do not save
Preperials
Load Setup Defults

My new computer on the other hand is like this :

Main Advanced Security Power Boot Exit

Now what I want to know is this, I want to put on my friends computer (in the boot sequence) CDROM, Removiable device, Hard drive (thats the way it is with my new computer)

Thanks. And I would appreciate a quick reply.

Take care.

Sauron

are you looking for the main setup to switch the boot sequence?

BIOS User Password
CMOS Supervisor Password
Chipset Quit and save with new options
Power Setup Quit and do not save
Preperials
Load Setup Defults

is this how the bios looks or are they seperated a bit. it looks like you have it jumbled up little.,

maybe look under the chipset , the boot sequence should be in their somewhere.then again i think the older boards you cant switch the boot sequence.

if i replied to the wrong question try and be a little more specific in your question

It got a little bit jumbled...well my friend has a 866 computer, so...it should be ok with the board. Its me that has a 166. But if you can't switch the boot sequence, like how do you install programs that run on a CD? And need to be installed in DOS?

i dont know the answer to that on other than updating the bios, which i have no clue how to do and i would not do unless someone else mentions it,

If you can't change the boot sequence, you'll need a Boot disk with cdrom support.
The standard Win98 bootdisk is good.
With that in the floppy drive, choose the option of "start computer with cdrom support."It will load drivers for the cdrom and away you go.
If you don't have a bootdisk,go to bootdisk.com and download one with cdrom support.

Hi Sauron,

Are you trying to install an OS or a DOS game or program/application?

For DOS games or programs, you might be better off opening a full screen DOS window from within Windows.

You could also restart in MS-DOS mode.

On the Award bios you are describing, the boot sequence is probably in Chipset - just open each one till you see it.
