That camaro has been my dream car for about 8 years, now. I used to want a '69 GTO, but the Camaro has grown on me. The reason it wasn't on the list is that I will be able to afford one sometime soon! Unless I befriend a dying rich man, the italians are staying in Italy. :(

316 bhp and 360 foot lbs of torque. Not to mention a underbody clearance nothing on the market can even come close to. Of course you can have those specs 'tweeked' -- up to 445 bhp and 550 ft lbs torque.

So while I'm driving over your Rams, Mustangs, and Beemers, I'm doing it in style :) And once I catch up with the Viper and the Ferrari, I'll have those for my main course. But the AM DB7 -- just way too cool to mess with.

Craig... to catch up... you need to get the performance mod for a hummer... Can't remember who does it, but saw it on one of the hot rodding shows on TV. They showed the thing doing a top speed of 157Mph and take a hairpin turn at 77Mph.

Mind you, if I had the money for the viper, I would be going for the John Lingenfelter modified engine. Takes you from 488ci and 450hp to 540ci and 725hp.. catch that :D

Justin26k, yup... knew that.. but it's a little toned down... dump the Lingenfelter modified engine into it :D

I guess maybe I'm more into classics, but how about a 1963 Corvette Stingray split-window coupe'? Or maybe a 1969 'Superbird'? Don't get me wrong, all these newer cars are beautiful, fast and expensive, but I'd sure hate to try and work on one. But, on the other hand, if you could afford a Viper or Lambroghini you could afford to hire someone to work on it!!

Someone explain to me what MPG is?? Or was it misspelled, because from what I been hearing by Dok, I can't believe he was running around in a 25-30 miles per hour car...

Anyway mine is affordable (I think) I like limos, but I kinda enjoy the idea of actually driving the car. Although, the cars I want are luxury and speed:) Oh sure, they aren't true speed cars, but they can move:) Only other car I might also like would be a Porsche.

Jenny - have you seen the next vette?

I have three picks for going fast: The American made Saleen S7, the McLaren F1 with the driver's seat in the middle and a reworked Fiero GT into the Finale with a 350 and TPI injection. This is because I have an 87 Fiero GT that used to be my daily driver and now is awaiting a rebuild.

For a purely sexy ride I think nothing beats a Ferrari. They even happen to be a bit on the fast side too.

As for going anywhere and pulling anything I really love the look and power of the Power Wagon with a 7.2L inline 6 generating 780ft. lbs of torque (Need to move your house? :D). Also had a wood paneled bed. Too bad it was a concept that probably will not make it to production. So, I will have to second the notion on the Hummer H2.

Colonel Sanders

Cricket, about 1/4 mile away from my workplace is a guy bought a bunch of land, built a huge 16 bay shop ( I mean 16 foot wide bays too) and has strung 8' chainlink w/ barbed wire along the top. Every bay in that sucker has a fully functional battle tank in it. There are two parked outside as he acquired them since the building was built. I actually went to high school with this guy. All-right, she also likes cars! lol

I would take the newest Lamborghing(forgot what it is called) since it is far cheaper(according to rado & track) than the latest and greatest Ferrari, yet the preformance is probbably very similar.

One thing I hate around here is how everyone cares about no more than a 1/4 mile.

Hi,

Well, truthfully, There aint too much I really wanna drive, apart from my own cars!!! Tuned to the way I like em!!:D

I got a
Nissan Skyline GTR R33 @500bhp (470Lb of torque)
Nissan Pulsar GTiR @ 423bhp
Mazda GTR @ 390bhp

And just ordered myself a Mitsu Evo 6, direct form Japan, which should be here in December...cant wait to tune that!!

I used to own a purple GTiR, which appeared on TV here in UK (channel 5), racing a Viper 8.0 Litre, and beating it!.. Nissan Pulsar is a 2.0L 4WD Turbo. I sold that onto a mate now, as I aint got enuff space in my garage. :(

If I could have any car, it would have to be the Audi Quattro S type, which appeared in the famous Group B (banned now!)rallies back in the early 80's. Favourite model was the Pikes peak model, running over 700+hp (which was a lot for back then!!)
Also would love a drive of the Toyotta Celica Pikes Peak version (over 1000+bhp)

No ferraris, lambos, or porkers for me. I used to rate them cars, until I got a skyline, and was able to beat them quite easily. Mind you, my gtir can beat porkers and ferraris no problem aswell!!!
Even although the expensive cars have higher top speeds, when you start to hit 140mph+, not many drivers are willing to push much more, as they havent been a them kinda speeds... Thats when I love having my passenger record me over-taking a ferrari at 140mph...hehehe, makes good video!!!

hehehe

Hi,

Good point they have higher bhp, but that just goes to show that most people that drive these cars drive them for status. How many lambo owners you know that will take their cars to the limits, and even if they did, WOW, what an expensive bill they would have for repairs....hehehe

And remember, FUN IS NOT IN A STRAIGHT LINE! hehehe
anyone can just press the pedal to the metal in a straight line, but driving in twisty small roads really shows what cars come out top. thats where the 4WD cars come into their own. HAving restricted conditions really bring out the best in a car. Thats why the skyline can easily kill the ferrari. One of the only 2WD cars I like is the supra, sideways action is amazing in them, and besides changing a clutch in a supra is a lot cheaper than a ferrari, or lambo for that matter.Same goes for tuning them!

There are so many cars that come to mind one would be a 1967 Corvette. Love that rear split http://www.novagate.com/~dkbogi/vette03.html Looking to the future I like the Pontiac Soltice http://a332.g.akamai.net/f/332/936/12h/www.edmunds.com/media/reviews/future_cars/02.apr/pontiac.solstice.500.jpg

Glc,
The Pontiac Soltice is supposed to go production in about a year or two. Below is a qoute from Edmunds.

"Although not yet confirmed for production, all indications suggest that the Solstice will get the green light shortly".

Thats when I love having my passenger record me over-taking a ferrari at 140mph...hehehe, makes good video!!!

hehehe

Zinedene... you apparently do not have any problems financially, with that said, would you like to share something with me? :D You have a collection of true dream cars! Wow, althought you're missing a nice Supra RZ or maybe a WRX Sti for your rallying dreams... I personally dont like the WRX and prefer the EVos over them. Either way... I cant afford any of those :D But I am glad a "God" of cars like you can talk so down to earth!! *bows* lol please keep us updated with your dream machines.

Hi,

9600baud..thankx for the comment..car 'god'....I wish, more like an enthusiast

Just to let you know.. Their will NEVER be any scobbies (Subaru's)in my garage . Over here, we call them chocolate engines, as they melt pistons very easily (without even boosting!), and gear boxes are very lame (have you seen the amount of options for gearboxes on scoobies, tells u something about their quality). Besides, the way they come out the factory is really all they can cope with. Pumping a scooby with over 500bhp is near impossible, especially when you dont want to waste thousands or pounds on them. The only thing I like about scoobies is the noise they make!! I had my first and last scooby at 18 years old, and never again will I get one. Has to be the most over-hyped car out there...also suffers from serious turbo lag
Besides, even my mazda gtr blows wrx's away, and thats just with an exhaust and air filter on it. Fun starts, when you play with the Apexi fuel and boost controllers!!! The mazda gtr has an IHI turbo (similar to the scoobies) and is a lot bigger than the scooby turbo. Engine even has uprated pistons as standard! what more could you ask for , even on a budget!
As for the evo's, well their in a class of their own. Pure power, with minimal fuss!! I cant wait for that to arrive. Want at least 600bhp from that.
Actually the cars arent that expensive as some believe. I get gtir's for £2000 from Japan, Mazda cost me £1500, only the skyline was expensive...but its definately worth it...The EVO 6, with less than 10k miles is costing me less than £13,000. I think thats reasonable, as I could always sell it for more, once I get bored of it. ;-)

Finanacials problems, everyone has them. I just choose cars as my thing, rather than , say going clubbing all the time, or smoking fags, or drinking... sounds wierd, but all those extra pounds spent on cigarettes and booze add up...thats why I dont touch em!
Mind you, my women gets mad sometimes, as the cars get more TLC than her sometimes!!! but thats the way it is for my babies!!

is bhp the same as horsepower?

Tuf
09-20-2002, 06:41 AM
It is Horsepower, but its brake horsepower which is a combination of power to the drive wheels and drawbar. Which today has evolved mainly to mean rear wheel horsepower.

wow... first i cant beleive the prices you're getting on those cars!! If I converted correctly, your basically new EVO's costing you about $20k here in US... thats insane! No wonder you've such a nice garage hehehe, well all the better. I am surprised at how much you have experienced around with diffent cars tho. I guess ill ask you before i buy any car now... you've quite a lifestyle! w00t!

Hi ,
Me again...

I was just thinking, I could never afford it or run it, but must be one of the top cars money can buy..

:D MERC CLK GTR:D
only 30-something made, and costs like a million poundz!(seriously)
Man, imagine MOT time, or just doing a simple oil change on that monster....

9600baud:

If importers are charging loads over there, my friend in Japan can get one sent to USA no probz, but We dont know the laws and taxes you would have to pay. £13K for an EVO6 GSR, thats about the price you would pay, similar condition.. I dont know the shipping rates at all for USA, but cant imagine they would be a lot greater than UK. It usually the taxes that kill ya!! I have sent parts for skylines to Canada before, for a friend who has one their.

GTiRs are also worth it. 220bhp as standard. Put an air filter, zorst, skyline intercooler, and this car will give nearly any car problems. But, always uprate the brakes and clutch in these. As standard, they cant really cope with that kinda power delivered.
It wasnt until I got my first GTiR that I realised how cr*ppy my Scooby WRX had been! Now, I cant really find any Scoobies that are willing to challenge my Nissans or mazda for that matter..
My friend has hit 500+bhp with NOS on his, now thats scary.
Put a GTiR with 300bhp against a MazdaGTR with 300bhp, and the mazda wins. GtiR would need at least 330+ to keep up with initial take off of the mazda. Mazda is lighter, and has bigger turbo as standard. Also engine can take more abuse, as it has uprated pistons as standard.
Ok, lets not get me started!!!!!!!

Nice 1

Unfortunately, we can't import vehicles that don't comply with our safety and emissions standards. They are closing the loopholes tighter and tighter every year.

Hi,

Just out of interest...

How come some people have got these cars over their.
I know some guy in Arizona who has a gtir ( I sold him a uprated gearbox). There are also a few supras and skylines? And ive met loads of people through our website, that live in US and have got some phatt cars?

Man, thats really annoying, if anything you guys have got the perfect long roads to enjoy these cars... Over here, its all small twisty roads, with loads of potholes!! Mind you, we still have a laugh, and the cooler air temps help our turbos...

Mind you, I had a laugh early on tonight, I actually thought the back-end of my car was gonna overtake me for a second:D
Sideways is the bestways!!!! lol

Essentially you can import a vehicle for off-road use only (cannot be registered for use on public roads) and you must post a bond equal to the value of the vehicle to ensure that you re-export it when you are done with it or you bring it into compliance. That's how race cars get over here. All non-US spec models that are here and are registered have been converted and inspected for compliance or are grandfathered from when the loopholes were bigger.
