Yeah, its like that chicken or egg question... but we can get cable and DSL in my new house (Ba'ston area). Not worrying about the money issue, which would you go with? Just based on performance...
Most likely, we will split it 3 ways (will probably get Linksys 4 port router), whichever way we go. Thanks in advance..

Cable, no question.
56k modem downloads at about 5kbps. IE5.5 full takes ~2.5 hours.
768/128 DSL downloads at about 900kbps IE5.5 full takes ~11 minutes.
Cable downloads at about 2000kbps. IE5.5 full takes ~3 minutes.
Those numbers are based on my experience, your mileage will vary.

It totally depends. If everyone of your neighbors is running cable modems, then I would probably say DSL. I would probably get the cable modem first. Make sure you don't have to sign a contract with them, and if you don't like it, cancel it and try a dsl line. From people I know, they have had better luck with cable modems than dsl. Just my thoughts. Good luck!!

Depends on the provider I'd say. Ask other folks in your area and see what they say. My folks have cable through Cox, and get variances from 12k to 200k downloads in the same day, depending on who else is on. I have DSL from through the telco here, and get 145-155k during the day and 170-185k during off peak hours.

find out the speed of the DSL, and get it if its like 2meg down, else get cable. cable is usualy dhcp servise, where as DSl is pppoe, which requires a program to connect, which is bad.

It really depends, up where I live, cable is fater. However once you get a bunch of people they zap your bandwidth but it's still faster than DSL usually.
