My managers home PC only boots to the same screen you get if you F8 during boot up, if you select normal boot at this point it finishes fine. I am trying to avoid the drive to look at it.
Known issue: He lives in Malden Mass. which has had 8-12 roaving power outages a day for a period of a month so he has been hit a few times for sure. I had him get an APC UPS with software to shut the machine down to avoid this problem in the future.
If it boots fine after selecting normal (it has been a while since I was on 98 so the terms might be wrong) is there a way to skip this dos screen and have him do straight into windows? or is a reinstall the best option due to the possible weirdness from the power outages?
Thank you in advance
His machine is a local store build and is roughly a:
P!!! machine about 1 Ghz
512 MB pc133 ram
ATI 32 mb video card
DVD
CD burner
