I put a new system together this weekend to replace my wife's Packard Bell 200 system. Everything went well until I hooked it up to her Packard Bell monitor. This monitor works great and has built in speakers on the sides, but, as I discovered, they are non powered. My new build cannot be heard thru them. I confirmed this by hooking up another set of non powered speakers to Packard and they sound fine. Is there any amplification option to make these speakers work with my new sound card? I don't want to have to set up an additional set of powered speakers.

You need a sound card that has an amplified speaker output. Some of the Creatives have a jumper to switch the output from line output to speaker output, you need speaker output for nonpowered speakers. If you are using onboard sound, you need a card or amplified speakers.

I'm using a PCI sound card. I'll check Creative's website for other choices. Thanks
