Every time I try to record music to a blank CD with my two-speed CD-Recorder, I get part of the way through and then get a RESET error. Each time it happens at a different time in the process so it is not just something that happens with one song. I have restarted my system several times and run Norton Utilities Win Doctor and nothing helps. Any one have any ideas what could be going on and how to fix it?
Check and make sure your ASPI layer is up to date. Adaptec's site has "ASPICHK" and the latest ASPI if you need it. Defragment your hard drive. Make sure you have ample free space on the drive - you need about a gig to be safe. When recording CD's, shut down ALL background processes except Explorer, Systray, and DirectCD. Try recording music at 1X.

Thanks, I will keep your points in mind in future CDs I burn. I was using Nero so I don't know if aspichk would help. It could be that I didn't have enough space left on the drive since I only had about 800 megs left though I don't know why that would make a difference since it seems to burn one song at a time. I did have some background stuff running since I have too many programs.
In any case, I did solve the problem somewhat after wasting 5 blank CDs by deleting every song it got to that gave me the error and could not record. Luckily, the songs I deleted were not that good. The only bad thing that happened was that I ended up with a CD of 60 minutes and 13 songs instead of 74 minutes and 16 songs.
