POST Screen

Having just upgraded this weekend, I've noticed the BIOS screen just flash by on startup. When I want to go into the BIOS, I have to start tapping delete key right away or I'll miss it.
Is there some sort of setting that will show the BIOS screen for at least a second or two?

Also, Hardware Monitor is always showing the mobo temp a degree or two higher then the cpu temp. Something wrong somewhere?
The cpu fan has a low setting of 2200rpm. Most cases it runs at 2350 but after running for awile it starts to slow down to below 2200rpm and starts warning me. What gives? Bad temp probe or?

Hi Carl,

See if there is a setting in BIOS to Disable the Quick Power On Self Test option. That way, the BIOS will count your RAM 3 times as well as perform so other tests...it'll keep the first boot screen on your monitor a little longer.

Not sure about the hardware monitor, I recall that you're using a ASUS motherboard...could be needing a updated ASUS Probe software.

Are you using the stock INTEL heatsink? Funny that the fan is slowing down like. The 2 recent P4 builds I did, the Intel fan speed stayed pretty steady around 2350 RPM.

Hi Carl, when I go to making changes in the bios I will enable the floppy seek option this will give me a couple seconds more time to enter the bios.

With the fan RPM it sound like you are using the “Q-Fan” option if so you might try bumping the fan speed up a notch with the [10/15] being the lowest speed and [15/15] being the fastest.

The enable floppy seek gives me enough time to enter the Bios.
I reset the fan to 12/15 and it is much improved. I hooked up one exhaust fan, a slow rpm one, and the temps dropped accordingly. Very little extra noise too!
Playing games seem to affect the Intel temp more then the AMD. Just my observation.
