Overclocking CPU

Some People Say the number one thing to know when to stop overclocking is when windows wont boot.


Is that the safest way of telling?

Also does it mean it wont start to boot. or When its loading it will freeze on me?

In most cases, it won't boot. If it does, run at that speed and watch the temps. If they stay normal or raise a degree or two, keep going.
If it doesn't boot, shut down, unplug power cord and reset the CMOS and start over. Just remember where you were before no-boot and go back to that point.

Usually even before it won't boot it will start acting flakey when you push it hard. You may see some blue screens or it may reboot on it's own. But not booting is a sure sign you've gone too far.

Another sure sign is when the computer blows up.
That's a sure sign,you've pushed it too far:)

I consider blowing the computer up, or even forcing it to start itself on fire a feat in itself...and I congratulate any person who has done so.
