What would you recommend for a new Intel system - I am actually tied up between:
-the intel 845E (Asus P4B5333-E)
-the SiS 648 (AsusP4S8x - DDR333, serial ata, 8x AGP)
-the Sis 645DX (Asus P4S533 SiS 645DX, DDR333, 533MHz FSB )

Or any others that you might think of recommending.

Thanx folks, I really appreciate it.

Statica,
My experience is limited but the P4S533 has been a joy to work with. Two clicks in the BIOS and my 1.8a is at 2.4 with no stability or heat problems. I'm only using one case fan so it is very quiet also. HTH

I just installed an ASUS P4S8X and so far so good. I converted over for AMD, I think I might stay with Intel for a little while.

Just a follow-up to those that might be interested; I went with the SiS 648 mobo; this is what I have for my system ..

mobo - AsusP4S8x
CPU - P4-1.8A
Mem - 512MB Kingmax DDR2700
HDD - WD80GB / 8MBcache
Vid - Abit Geforce4 TI - 128MB
Case - crappola generica
powersuppy - Enermax 350W w/auto fan
DVDROM - Pioneer 16x slot dvd drive
Monitor - 17" Samsung LCD (760V)

its all sitting on my floor, with an ultimatum that I mustnt sit to build it right now .. so will concede; and try to get to it soon enuff.

My previous was an Athlon XP 1800, and I love it to death; - I just want to see things from the Intel perspective as well. (That noise from my athlon machine is driving me nuts as well!)

I voted the SiS645 only because I haven't had a chance to use the 648. We've ben using the ASUS P4S533-WA-WL almost exclusively on our builds and they have been performing flawlessly. I expect no less from the 648.

The P4S533 SiS645 is all I know, so that's what I voted. I'm sure the SiS648 will be just as stable as the 645.

Curious to know what kind of results you got from the Asus P4S8X. This (http://www.asusboards.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=24611) wasn't to encouraging.

Will let ya know how I fare, I havent got a chance to get to it yet, couldnt skip work ;)
I really dont give too much value to such things when I get interested in the board, for one its got a bit of a return policy if it turns out to be a lemon - the other is that its only those that have problems that go to the site, there is much more to a stable system than the mobo and the coolest memory.
Oh well, only time (36hrs or so) will tell if I am going to be in the same boat.

The system is very stable for me (knock on wood); no issues whatsoever, except for the M$ keyboard. I havent tried tweaking it; just did a base install and am going to run it for a few hours.

Thanx for all your responses.
