i already have a hard drive that i partitioned for storage purposes, but now i'm going to use it as my primary hard drive. i separated it into two partitions through windows xp. i have backed up all of my files on one partition of that hardrive and want to use the other partition as my active dos partition. is it possible to do this without having to re-format my whole harddrive? my main goal is to keep my backup partition untouched. thanks in advance!

Hi AzNbRnR,
If you already created the partitions and formatted both with WinXP (while this drive was slaved to the other drive using Disk Manager?), then installing WinXP onto the first partition (the c: drive) shouldn't be a problem.
Which partition is your backup data saved to?

it's ok. i was able to install xp without even touching my storage partition. by the way, my storage partition was the H: drive as slave and now the D: drive as master.:D
