I installed ME about 2 weeks ago and after a few problems of hanging it seems to have sorted itself out after installing the online updates. The only problem I have at the moment is my HP printer wont align the print when I run the HP toolbox. I get the message that the computer has lost communication with the printer, but this is not so. I can still print. I thought this may be a problem with the drivers following the upgrade install of ME and tried to update the driver for it and use the HP driver that came with the printer on 3 floppies. It starts to load the first floppy and gets to about 30% of the first one and then I get the message that it cant change the driver because it is being shared with another program and to close the other program and try again. I dont have another prog that is using this driver (I dont think so anyway)How do I get to install the original driver for the printer. I do have a scanner linked to the printer which I guess uses the same port as the printer but would this cause this problem.
Thanks for any advice you may have guys.

I have a zip drive, scanner and printer all on the printer port. And they all work fine. The driver signature is a M$ driver. The problem maybe a conflict in the scanner driver
although I am not sure. What is the driver signature? And
have you tried to reinstall the scanner software/driver?

I will give that a try. What is the signature of the driver?

Signature driver are standard drivers provided by M$ for hardware.

Pull the scanner and install the printer hooked directly to the port (ECP) with the latest driver downloaded from HP.
