I recently bought another printer and hooked it into the USB port 1. The PC told me right away that new hardware was found and I ran the installation disk and the drivers etc. instaled perfectly. The next night I was doing some cable adjustments and rehooked the lexmark USB cable into USB port 2. The PC said new hardware found and I thought this was strange so I went to device manager and sure enough, I had two lexmark devices. Now on the "my computer" window in XP, it says lexmark (1) and lexmark(2). Should I get rid of one of these if I can or leave well enough alone?
Thanks

hey ok you can leave it or delete it it shouldnt be a huge file so it wont affect disk space too much but if you do delete on delete it the #1 well that is it so e-mail me if you have more ?s
I would uninstall both printers and reinstall it where you plan to leave it. It should't hurt anything as it is but it may get confusing having two of the same printer when one isn't there.

I have a lexmark x-73 and oh is it fun
I would unistall both printers,,,boot up the software follow the directions then hook up the usb when it asks you to then just leave it in the same usb,, i kept moving mine around and it would always mess up and i would have to unistall and do it over again..

I have a Lexmark Z32 which has the option to use USB or parallel. If I remember right when I installed it with it plugged into the USB I too got another printer installed when I changed USB ports, I just deleted one and used the other and it seemed to work ok. Now however I have it plugged into the parallel port in order to free up an extra USB port.
USB stands for Unpredictable Serial Bus. :D
